I was checking out Sister Karen's blog and she brought up an interesting topic; what's that band that disappointed you the most when you went to see them live.....
I, too, have a similar question: Who is the band you've become the most disappointed in over the years.....period.
Mine? Red Hot Chili Peppers.....Old school Peppers put out some of the most challenging music I had ever heard. Honestly, I can barely stomach anything they've done in the past 15 years.
Apparently I'm in the minority because they still get the shit played out of the 'post '95' offering; here and elsewhere.
So...Now it's your turn.....who do YOU think had it and lost it.....

shit........ this list could take days but i'll keep it short. metallica, system of a down, pearl jam....... i guess most bands don't realize that people become their fans because they like the way the band sounds. sure, i understand "growth in your art" and all that bullshit, but damn it, you should at least be able to tell that it's the same damn band.

Re: What The Hell Happened
Metallica would be one. Hang it up boys. But at the top of my list would have to be Aerosmith. How in the heck have these guys stuck around? Their last good rock album was waaaaaaaaay back in the 70's. Guys always do the 'hit the wall' list for ex-hot chicks why not start a list for rock bands? These guys that stick around to long and it just isn't cool any more. Like when are we go to see one of the Rolling Stones fall over and break a hip for gods sake..........

Mine was Puddle of Mudd at bogarts when they came with Saliva. Puddle of Mudd lead singer was a little whinny and complain about we did not cheer loud enogh for them. We were louder for Saliva because they rocked the house.

Re: What The Hell Happened
Yes, I too have been disappointed with the "peppers". But I also am very disapointed another singer/songf***er. I have never heard her on 96.5, but a few years ago it would've been quite possible if this station was alive. Her name is Avril Lavigne. She is such a sellout. Now I even believe she was just some dumb girl society glittered up and made emo for show. It pisses me off. She actually had an ounce of talent back in the day, not much, but enough to get my attention, considering I don't listen to anything if it's not saliva, or incubus, or soad, or something. But look at that little hoe. I bet she just sits around chewing bubble gum, twirling her shiny blonde hair, and wondering... What does bimbo mean? does that mean pretty? because i've been hearing it all day.. little bitch.

Re: What The Hell Happened
I said this before in the Van Halen blog earlier but Guns and Roses purely sucked when I saw them. At first I thought it was just the one show I saw but then I saw them a second time in a concert where they were with several other bands. They sucked again! I have to say that the rest of the band sucked but it was Axle that can't hang live. Granted, the notes he has to hit are tough to do BUT, if you can't do it live then don't tour. Or, if you can't do it well live don't have such an extensive tour schedule where you are worn out and your concerts suck. That ruins your fan base. 'nuff said!

Re: What The Hell Happened
I agree with you Fin on the Chili Peppers...and sadly I'm starting to feel that way about the Foo Fighters too. I saw them on their first tour at Caddys & got to meet the guys- super nice- and the show was great. And I love that first album- the second one was decent too...but now it all sounds the same to me...

Re: What The Hell Happened
When I was working at Top 40 radio station WSTO free concerts were part of the benifits. Anyway worst and most disapointing and boring concert I saw was Def Leppard in 1999/2000 time frame. It was like sing a song, bow, sing a song bow, very boring and not that good. Best concert I saw was a record company flight to see Bon Jovi in Chicago at House of Blues. Was supposed to had a meet & greet but I had laringitus at the time and basically went back to my room after the show. Even after being out of radio I can not see paying for any concert as I was used to going for free all the time.

Re: What The Hell Happened
I refuse to pay what a lot of shows cost today. Last one I paid for was Metallica in 1988. $18.

Re: What The Hell Happened
I liked RHCP when i saw then back in 93. Cant much for them since then tho. A band that disappointed me recently was Smashing Pumpkins...cant even listen to their Cds anymore after seeing them live. Not as good as they use to be.
However, I have to give props to TOOL, Deftones and 311 (with Matisyahu) all those shows were F*n great and I will see them again!!!

Re: What The Hell Happened
Metallica. Period. The rocked all the way through And Justice for All.... after that they just plain sucked. No I don't like any of the new crap they put out. Some of it is tolerable, but most of it isn't.
ps. Please don't ever play the Unforgiven ever again. Thanks.

Re: What The Hell Happened
man the peppers is one of the most overplayed bands in history, i can only imagine hell as one room with noway out and peppers playing over and over again, yeah that gives me chills just thinking about it. agree with every other band listed on this forum, and im afraid aerosmith is the new stones, which neither band has released anything worth a crap since they went sober. please fin, take the peppers away from karen, every morning same fucking song. thanks
