First things first I am a HUGE sports fan... baseball, football, hockey, basketball just about anything with a ball I'm in too (sorry Nascar does not count as a sport, turning left on a circular road for 2 hours is NOT an athletic ability)

So naturally moving to Cincinnati means I watch a lot of Reds games and this week they happen to be playing my St. Louis Cardinals so I watch the entire game... unfortunately that means I also have to listen to Jeff "Cowboy" Brantley for 3 hours and I'm serious when I say that listening to him makes me want to slam my head into a concrete wall, over and over and over again.

His stories are pointless, his mastery of the english language is pathetic (funnest is not a word moron QUIT SAYING IT), he has no knowledge of baseball history as he will admit 700 times in each broadcast, his memory on his playing days are foggy at best as he stumbles through uh.... trying to uh.... remember when he played against uh.... former uh.... players.

It's literally the worst color commentary I've ever heard (well maybe not as bad as the poor saps who do the Pittsburgh Pirates games but that's another blog entirely) And then you have George Grande who is awesome, except when he has to say something to Jeff and calls him "Cowboy" over and over again... that is totally unnecessary. First off it's a lame nickname! You are not a cowboy, you did not have a cool ten gallon hat, six shooter, lasso or a horse! 2nd if you have to give your color guy a cue to talk everytime then he shouldn't be on air in the first place! And another thing he sucked as a Cardinal so that automatically makes me dislike him... Cowboy up? I say Cowboy down!!!

Anyway so if anybody can get word to the folks at Fox Sports Ohio to just let George do the games alone that would be great... thanks for listening and letting me vent... I'll be back tomorrow with something more fun, perhaps a Theory of a Deaman story don't forget they are in studio tomorrow at 3pm for some acouistic goodies so listen in knuckleheads!

Re: Jeff "Cowboy" Brantley blows

Dude,

I can not disagree with you more. 1. Grande is average at best, he's not as bad as the Angry Guys and half the blogging nation at another website states but he is defintely not "awesome", check his call of Jr's 500th home run it in one word and I quote was "hey". Secondly I listened to the Cardnials broadcast of the Reds today on XM and they are probably the third worse announce team in front of the Cubs and the Nationals.
2. Brantley is great, especially on radio broadcasts. He played the game and was not as bad as you made him out to be in St Louis, a 4.4 ERA, 14 saves, and a 1.1 WHIP, he wasnt as good as he was for Cincinnati but as he said on last nights broadcast he didn't see eye to eye with LaRussa's and the pitching coach's style. As far as his southern speak, it gives him a certain charm that other great announcers had such as Harry Carrey and Joe Nuxhall had.

Right on brother!! I'd rather listen to paint dry. Can he be any MORE monotone?? Did I just read Harry Carry and Brantley in the same sentence? Oh pleeeaaaaazzzze--he's not even fit to open Harry's bud can, let alone be compared to him. "Cow Pie" is a much better name for him.
