Rocker Scott Weiland checked himself into jail today to begin serving his sentence for DUI.

Weiland is supposed to serve eight days jail -- but he could end up doing a lot less.

Mötley Crüe recently hit the studio to lay down an extra track for their upcoming Saints of Los Angeles album (due June 24). "We were firing on all cylinders at sound check [before the Crüe Fest tour press conference] just jamming out, and that's when the new idea came," explains bassist Nikki Sixx. The rocker adds that the tune, "Going Out Swingin'," is "the ultimate song to end the record with and begin the new chapter of our career."

Metallica will release ‘Master of Puppets‘ on vinyl on June 17th. ‘…And Justice for All‘ will be released on vinyl in August. Metallica and Scars on Broadway have signed on to play a benefit concert for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a nonprofit music-education school co-founded by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. The show will take place Wednesday at the Wiltern theater in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Metallica are set to launch their Mission: Metallica website, which offers fans an inside look at the making of the band's as-yet-untitled upcoming album.
